Interesting, not that spectacular place located just in front of a building which used to serve as local headquarters of the communist Security Service (ironically, currently this building houses dental healthcare center).

It is rare to come across such a dedicated monument in Poland. However, glory to those who so decided and commemorated the victims of those dark times. The Monument to the Victims of Communism in Łódź is located quite well on a small square. It is always clean and tidy.

It looks interesting and lofty. Well integrated into the green squash. My assessment does not concern the political and causal aspect of the creation of this monument.

The Monument to the Victims of Communism unveiled on December 12, 2009, in Karol Anstadt Avenue, in front of the building of the 12th Secondary School of General Education. Stanisław Wyspiański, which was the seat of the Gestapo during World War II, and in 1945-56 - the Provincial Office of Public Security. The originator of the construction of the monument to the victims of communism was the late Andrzej Owsiany, a resident of Łódź and senator of the Republic of Poland, with the full approval of the then President of Łódź, Jerzy Kropiwnicki, who headed the Honorary Committee. The Honorary Patronage was taken by the President of the Most Serene Republic of Poland, the late President of the Republic of Poland. Professor Lech Kaczyński. A significant part of the funds for the Monument to the Victims of Communism were obtained from social donations, and some were co-financed by the City. The total cost of the Monument was 550 thousand. zlotys
