Nice statute
Great Commander of Poles. If it wasn't for Him, I wouldn't write a review right now. Glory to the Heroes !!!
A neat place. I recommend visiting
A monument of considerable size, located at ŁDK. The square with the monument is equipped with several masts, so this place is suitable for organizing intimate ceremonies with flags. There is not much space here. The area is currently being renovated and the street will be moved further south. Apparently the plans are to enlarge the square, and then the area around the monument will be more functional.
People's Polandedit
The ŁDK building (the Marshal Józef Piłsudski Monument House) was built in the years 1935–1939 according to the design of Wiesław Lisowski [1], and was financed by contributions from the inhabitants of Łódź [2]. In the years 1980–1986, the building was extended by erecting the northern and western wings, extending the southern wing, modernizing the interior and covering the facade with sandstone slabs from the quarry in Śmiłów [3] (the work was carried out according to the design of Jerzy Kurmanowicz) [1].
Third Republicedit
In December 1989, the "FF Gallery" moved to ŁDK, a permanent exhibition space was established, and in 2001, two interdisciplinary galleries started operating. Since its inception, ŁDK has exhibited over 100 exhibitions (apart from the FF Gallery). The first exhibitions appeared at the beginning of the 1960s, and with the establishment in 1968 of the "ŁDK Amateur Photographers Club", photography began to be displayed.
Currently, there are five galleries in ŁDK: Galeria FF, Galeria Imaginarium, Galeria Nowa, Galeria Stara and Galeria-Cafe.
The Józef Piłsudski Monumentedit
Main article: Monument to Marshal Józef Piłsudski in Łódź.
In 1997, in the square in front of ŁDK, a statue of Józef Piłsudski was created, the author of which was Zbigniew Władyka. In November 2007, eight meters high white and red masts with three eagles: rifle, legionary and the Polish Army of the Second Republic were placed next to the monument. The bronze eagles were made by the daughter of the deceased sculptor - Zofia Władyka-Łuczak [4].
Monument to the heroes of the movie The Magic Pencil
On September 25, 2011, right in front of the entrance to the Łódź Cultural Center, a monument to the heroes of the movie Magic Pencil was officially unveiled. The authors of the sculpture are Magdalena Walczak, Marcin Mielczarek and Karol Baraniecki [5].
2018 renovation
In 2018, renovation and expansion of the building began. The roof, windows, doors, façade, which will be cleaned and illuminated, as well as the foundations and basements, which have been decided to use as laboratories, are to be renovated. The most visible new element of the renewed ŁDK is the Pasaż Kultury Łódzkie Voivodeship. Running from the side of the terrace at ul. Sienkiewicza, through the patio (previously used for technical purposes) to the exit towards the Łódź Fabryczna Railway Station. It is to serve as a place to promote cultural activities in all poviats of the Lodzkie Voivodship [3]. As part of the Culture Passage, the Regional Cultural Information will also be established, the tasks of which will include, among others:
creating a database - an information platform developing a calendar of cultural events in the Łódź region, promoting events and initiatives in the region [6].
The architectural design is to refer to the original assumptions of Wiesław Lisowski. The contemporary project was handled by Design Lab Architects from Lodz, while Mosaicon from Lodz was also responsible for its implementation. The cost of the entire reconstruction was PLN 13,484,090 (including PLN 6,517,229.73 co-financed by the EU) [3].
