The building for the elderly and cripples of the Lodz Christian Charity Society in Lodz was erected by Otto Gehliga in the years 1894-1896. The author of the project from 1884 was Franciszek Chełmiński. It was implemented thanks to the efforts of the Society of Charity and Generosity of Łódź manufacturers, led by Juliusz Heinzel. Established in 1877, it conducted activities whose primary goal was to organize a shelter. At first, this one was located in a rented building at Cegielniana Street (currently Jaracza). The building was erected on a plot received from the city authorities, at 45 Dzielna Street (today's Narutowicza Street) at the corner of the Market Square (currently Dąbrowskiego Square). The shelter, which was put into use on March 11, 1897 and was intended for 120 people, was usually crowded. Two years later, on the initiative of dr. Karol Jonscher, management of the Charity Society, opened a pavilion on the property for mentally ill people. Later it was moved to the Kochanówka area. The building also housed two chapels, Catholic and Protestant. Before the outbreak of World War II, in 1937, a maternity hospital of St. Elizabeth. Main entrance from ul. Narutowicza 60 is decorated with a neo-Roman portal supported by columns. Above it was the Latin inscription "Res sacra miser" - "Mercy is a holy thing". It was replaced by another "Collegium Anatomicum". After the war, it was taken over in 1948 by the University of Lodz. Then, the Medical Academy was separated from the medical faculties. The "attraction" of Collegium Anatomicum is undoubtedly the Museum of Anatomic Exhibits, which is inaccessible to the general public.

Very interesting museum - despite the fact that Anatomy is not a light subject, the opportunity to take classes in this particular subject in a place such as Collegium Anatomicum is a real treat for most students. The object requires interior refreshment and equipment replacement (of course, maintaining the historic spirit of the place and architecture).

A lot of interesting exhibits to facilitate learning. However, the building is old and leaves much to be desired. 😧
