The classicistic town hall building occupies the central place of the town square. It was built in the years 1744 - 1749. This does not mean that in the earlier centuries it was empty here. The previous seats of the city authorities were consumed by fires and we know about their existence thanks to the preserved foundations, which are visible in the town hall cellars. When visiting the city square with the Town Hall, a tear will roll in the eyes of many a lover of rail vehicles, because at the beginning of the 20th century there were sections of the tram line here. It is because of her that, during the extension of the town hall on the first level, a link to nearby tenement houses was created. Trams ran in the city from the end of the 19th century to the 70s of the 20th century. The tourist will not hear the bugle call, once played from the town hall tower. Details that are worth paying attention to are the Latin inscription placed above the entrance from the south - the city was founded by Bolesław the Wrymouth in 1108. Previously, there were, among others, treasury and court. An interesting fact is a recently discovered well from the Middle Ages. The Pearl of the Karkonosze Mountains - this is how Jelenia Góra is called. Unfortunately, as a pearl, she was born in pain: armed conflicts and changes of power were not spared her. The beginnings of the town are related to the stronghold of prince Bolesław the Wrymouth. Over the years, the city has made a name for itself as a manufacturer and exporter of linen. Kowary provided raw material for the developing mining industry. Over the centuries, tourism has become another brand of the city, especially in the era of decline in the importance of mining. Today, almost 100,000 the city is the Gate of the Giant Mountains. It is an excellent accommodation base and a starting point for trips to the mountains. When visiting the city, be sure to see: - town hall square with the town hall building - Basilica Minor of St. Erasmus and Pankracy - Baszte and Brame Wojanowska (St. Anna's chapel) - Krzywoustego hill - Church of Grace of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (tombstone chapel) - Grodzka Tower - The castle tower - The Giant Mountains Museum The city can be visited on the basis of 2 routes: small downtown (5 km) and large (20 km). The large trail covers the spa part of the city and the Chojnik castle.

Magnificent square. The center of Jelenia Gora is one of the great unknown in Poland and it is highly recommended to enjoy it

Disgusting and nasty city. I was very neglected in Jelenia as a tourist and I must say that I regret it
