The Old Podgórze Cemetery is a burial place for people who built the history of the city of Podgórze in the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These few preserved, beautiful tombs in a forgotten and neglected place on the map of today's district of Krakow indicate the high artistic level of tomb architecture at the time, and the epitaphs tell short, often touching stories of the last journey of people buried there. It is also a place that shows the history of barbarism and ignorance for the sacred. The cemetery was destroyed by fascists who cut a road in the chalk hill, and their "work" was completed in the 1970s. From 1.5 ha of the cemetery, less than 40 ares have survived ... A small but very atmospheric cemetery. Beautiful tombstones set on hills and surrounded by trees.
