A dendrological garden that is over a hundred years old. Nice place.

The now dendrological garden, which is over one hundred years old, functions next to the former Schroeder's villa, today a museum for them. Dekerta (35 Warszawska Street). A plot of 3.32 hectares located almost in the city center is growing almost 150 varieties of trees and shrubs. The creator of the garden is unknown. Perhaps it was the same company that designed a villa with an outbuilding for the manufacturer Gustaw Schroeder. The owner of the area was a well-known lover of garden art and a declared dendrologist who also acted in the Society for the Embellishment of the City. The garden is located on a hilly area (moraine slope) above the Warta floodplain terrace. Alleys and paths wind here in a seemingly chaotic manner, but everything is perfectly thought out and spatially composed. From the highest point there is a view of the Zawart that is already covered by crowns. It is a pity that not all elements of garden architecture have survived to this day. The whole park is divided into several smaller parts - there are lawns, a mountain garden, a gorge clad in limestone, a lapidarium. There are stairs going up to a place called a "stronghold" and a megalithic tomb reconstructed from the Czechówek Park. In its interior were found the remains of 17 people and flint tools, amber decorations and two fangs of a wild pig. The didactic path led by park-garden alleys allows us to get to know sometimes even very exotic specimens of trees and shrubs. The place is really atmospheric. In the autumn, it lures with its splendor of colors, in the winter - with the overhangs of unpolluted snow on conifers, in summer with shady alleys, and the prosperous magnolias that bloom in early spring attract many throngs of walkers.
