I really appreciate the University Library for its wide collection of both scientific books useful for studies and popular literature. The service is nice and competent, but that's the end of the pluses. Not only that the opening hours in the summer are not affordable for working people (I have the impression that every opportunity is good for library employees to have free time), but also for the second time this year due to the restrictions related to the pandemic, graduates UMK is disregarded and not included among people who can use the library (I understand that we pose a threat to the staff as opposed to students?). This is ridiculous considering that a graduate who wants to access the library has to pay a deposit and is only allowed to borrow 3 items. Recently, I received a questionnaire from the Honorable Rector regarding the satisfaction with the university. My guess is that the Rector expects positive feedback. I just wonder what for, since graduates of the Nicolaus Copernicus University do not have any privileges.

The UMK BU has undergone many changes in recent years: almost exclusively for the better. Free access, sensible layout. However, for me, the Special Collections Department with hundreds of rare prints and manuscripts still to be discovered (of course they are cataloged, but still many works by Königsberg and Pomeranian authors are waiting for new editions and thorough analysis) and the Pomeranian Study Reading Room (a great place to work on history and the culture of former Prussia and Pomerania).

The current opening hours are a joke! Detriment. Some of the service is tragic, but there are some very nice ladies and nice bodyguards, so it's hard to judge as a whole.

Interesting building in the heart of the university.
