Aleja Solidarności - the main interchange, integrating tram and bus transport in the city. Solidarity Avenue This alley is the section between ul. Chełmińska (Teatralny Square) and ul. Chełmińska Road. The name of this street section was unfortunately changed in 2000 by the decision of the City Council, which thereby destroyed the historical names. Until now, this street was called the Chełmno Road (Kulmer Chaussee). The same was done with Aleja 700-lecia Toruń (its name was associated with the construction in 1933, when the anniversary of granting Toruń city rights), which was renamed Aleja Jana Pawła II. It is comforting, however, that each historical period was reflected in the street names (once, for example, the historical Chełmińska Street was called Dzierżyńskiego Street ...). Aleja Solidarności runs through the former area of baroque bastion fortifications from the 17th century, between the former Bastion of Saint. Wawzryniec, and the Chełmno Bastion. The greenest and best place to walk along Aleja is its eastern side - i.e. at the Ethnographic Park. The walking alley (which is also a busy communication route between Teatralny Square and Odrarzenia Street) this way along the entire length of the street leads among colorful flower-carpet rugs, in the vicinity of the aforementioned Park and the former, nineteenth-century artillery arsenal - the seat of the Ethnographic Museum. From the side of the Old Town (Teatralny Square) begins a series of several monuments commemorating the twin cities of Toruń. The most interesting of these monuments is a ball in the form of a ball, a gift from the city of Čadca in Slovakia on the occasion of five years of cooperation with Toruń, unveiled in 2000. This ball is a geological unique nature from around Chadca. Further monuments - memorial stones concern Leiden in the Netherlands (unveiled in 1993) and Göttingen in Germany (unveiled in 1988). The direction and distance of this last city is described by the yellow signpost nearby, at Teatralny Square. Today's Solidarity Avenue and the surrounding areas stretching far to the north is the historic district of Toruń - Chełmińskie Przedmieście, one of the oldest districts of medieval Toruń, which began to develop in the 13th century. To this day, as a result of the turmoil of war over the centuries and the construction of bastion photographs in the seventeenth century, unfortunately, no historic, dating back to the beginning construction, and the current shape and image of this area no longer reminds of its old origin.
