An example of numerous traces of multinationality and multiculturalism of the city is a narrow street in the city center, which resembles the commercial districts of the cities of the South and the Middle East, due to the characteristic stalls with unusual architecture. These stalls, called "nipples" from the Arabic word for souk, which means market place, were housed in two rows of brick buildings, separated by a narrow street in the middle. This place, despite the passage of time and constant transformations, fulfills its commercial function to this day.
