Skwierzyna is a royal city founded in 1312 in western Poland. At the end of the 16th century it was in the Poznań poviat, and in 1589 Skwierzyna obtained the right to store. The city is located on the edge of the Pradolina Toruńsko-Eberswaldzka, at the mouth of the Obra River to the Warta. The center of this old town is the market square with the town hall, which until 1945 was surrounded by historic tenement houses. As a result of World War II, most of the market's buildings were destroyed.
