I was at this memorial cemetery in the summer of 2018. The first impression is positive. It can be seen that the local authorities take care of the memorial. At least 2-3 times a year, general work is carried out. Honestly, I expected to see much worse. More than 20 thousand Soviet soldiers who died in 1944-1945 during the liberation of Czechoslovakia are buried here. Before WWII, these lands belonged to Czechoslovakia and in 1946 were given to Poland. In the 1950s, all the small cemeteries of Soviet soldiers and individual graves in all counties (districts) of Poland were transferred to regional centers. It happened with this memorial. In fact, all the soldiers who were originally buried in a radius of 10-15 km from this settlement were reburied in it. That is why I have been looking for the grave of my grandfather for so long. During the re-burial there was a lot of confusion and distortion in the spelling of surnames. In general, everything is fine, but there are not completely eliminated the consequences of vandalism. A metal crucifix was broken (pictured), a star was broken with a hammer on the grave of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
