I used to come with Opel Astra F which had a leak from the gasket under the head, leak from the gasket under the valve cover, leak from the oil sump, it also consumed oil and cooling liquid and there were no problems. He did what he needed and that's it. When I went in a Fiat where there was minimal leakage from the gasket under the head and it does not take up 1 ml of oil for 7000 km and I did not make any refill as it has already mentioned that one would have to think about replacing the gasket under the head. So if you have a German, you should eat it alas, but I advise against doing something else.
