The appointment act was preceded by many years of methodical activities of a group of people for whom the creation of a sport-oriented school in Mysłowice has become a life goal. In 1977, on the initiative of the director of KWK "Mysłowice" dr inż. Eugeniusz Sakwerda and Józef Brom, MA, the Swimming Section at the "Górnik 09" Mysłowice Sports Club begins its activity. Since the beginning, almost all members of the Section are students of Primary School No. 4 Wincenty Pstrowski. A few years of activity brings an impressive collection: 153 medals in the Silesian Championships, 23 competitors are among the best in Poland. The new school year 1982/83 for school crowns the hard work of many people, including mgr Alicja Langer, mgr Lechosław Konieczny, President of the Swimming Association - Franciszek Tomala, trainers, teachers and the above-mentioned mgr Józef Brom and dr inż. Eugene of Sakwerda. Sports facilities of the Sports School is a 20m x 10m gym, a second gym adopted from the attic, KS "Górnik 09" sports field and a 25-meter pool (four-track) with a sauna and gym. The interiors of school classrooms were temporarily adapted to the needs of the extended physical education program. In the 1982/83 school year, there were five sports classes specializing in swimming, attended by 125 students - athletes. Thanks to close cooperation with the "Górnik 09" Mysłowice Sports Club, the students could also play chess, table tennis, athletics, football and wrestling. In 1983, the Sports School was ranked third in the competition for the title of "the most sporting school" of the Katowice Province. The Sports School has its first champion, Artur Rojek in 1984 won gold at the Polish Championships at a distance of 400 m freestyle. In 1991, the Olympic Club was created. It was created to run a business to support sport. The reality of the 90s forces the management, teaching staff and parents to seek financial resources for the school (acquiring sponsors, organizing carnival balls, providing gyms, etc.). Thanks to funds from sponsors and our own ingenuity, the School organizes beneficial festivities and events for the disabled at the "Radość" center in Mysłowice.
