Being in the Gniezno market, we often do not pay attention to the fact that we really are on one of the seven urban hills. Fires broke out in the city many times. At the end of the fifteenth century, the town hall was completely destroyed by the town hall located on the square. In 1819, a fire broke out again in the city, after which the old town was laid out so that the main street led to the Primate's Archcathedral. The characteristic elements of the market are: fintanna located in its central place and semi-circle of coat of arms on the market's plate, containing coats of arms belonging to the so-called Union of Polish Cities.
