Plac Gdański, located between Gdańska and Adama Mickiewicza streets, was called the Holy Spirit Square years ago, and on March 10, 1950, the name Obrońców Stalingradu Square was introduced. Name of pl. Holy Spirit was introduced in 1935 and functioned until the end of the occupation, when the name was changed to Gdańsk Square. Since 1988, the name of Gdańsk Square has existed until today. The current square is a meeting place for the residents of Chełm and visitors. The square has a lot of greenery, a fountain and a monument to PTTK.
