The name itself speaks for itself
Jewish cemetery in Pabianice - was established in 1840 and is located at the intersection of today's Śniadeckiego and Jana Pawła II Streets.
It is surrounded by a wall of concrete slabs with remnants of barbed wire. There are two gates leading to the cemetery. Initially, the cemetery occupied an area of 1.7 ha, but in 1968 it was reduced in favor of housing cooperative buildings, including a boiler house erected despite protests from the local community. The area of the cemetery is 0.78 ha. Currently, the cemetery consists of about 650 tombstones, mostly in the form of matzevot with Hebrew inscriptions and reliefs. Some of them have renovated polychromes.
Among the buried are relatives of the historian Maksymilian Baruch. There is also a symbolic grave of the Tośka family.
The cemetery is managed by the Jewish Community in Łódź.
The cemetery is a badly neglected state on 28/02/2019 for a shame because it's a historic place
The historic cemetery of the Jewish community living but also creating Pabianice, unfortunately the cemetery is badly neglected and there is no "good hand" to take care of it. I think that this responsibility lies at least in some part with the Pabianice authorities who do little or nothing in this direction.
