Myszkowskie marsh is nothing but a peat meadow with alder succession. Succession is a change in the species composition of plants growing in this area. In contrast, peat bogs are solid-type swamp ecosystems, where organic material accumulates from dying vegetation. Sites such overgrown plants showing unlimited growth, which means that their lower parts gradually die contributing to the accumulation of peat. However, for the peat process to occur, there must be an advantage of biomass production over its distribution. The most common peat-forming plants are mosses, sedges and reeds. The current state, in which peat bogs enter woody species in the form of alders, is a consequence of the aging of the lake. It began with an increase in the concentration of nutrients transforming this area of the lake into a swamp, then into a bog, and at the moment we are witnessing a slow transformation into a forest. Myszków swamp the place of living of the ordinary crane, which inhabits the northern and central part of Eurasia. Until recently, this bird could be found all over Poland, but as a result of poorly understood retention, the wet forests were drained, thus destroying its breeding grounds. Cranes usually arrive in March and April, and depart in autumn. In September and October you can watch the keys żurawich flights and admire their distinctive voice called klangorem.
