The grape harvest (Days of Zielona Góra) is the annual, largest cultural event in the region that takes place in Zielona Góra in the first half of September. It lasts 9 days, during which numerous events organized by local associations, concerts, trade fair and presentations of regional products take place, the most important of which are Lubuskie wines. The most spectacular and colorful element of the celebration of the Zielona Góra grape harvest is a pageant. Usually Lubuski Theater is responsible for its organization, which invites stilt walkers, street theaters, students of Zielona Góra schools, municipal associations and organizations to cooperation. Several hundred people pass the main street of the city, following the king of vintage - Bacchus. Individual vineyards present on moving platforms, and winemakers offer observers with wine. In addition to concerts of stage stars, every year the events forming the celebration of the Vintage are: Wine Competition Vintage Theater Meetings Wine Market Trips to the vineyards of Split-Mountain Lighter cruises on the Oder A special place is occupied during the Zielona Góra Days by the Wine Town - a specially separated zone, where winemakers from the entire region present their wines and other products in tiny wooden houses. The history of winemaking in Zielona Góra is a very important element of local identity. It has already grown into many beautiful legends. One of them says that after the assassination of Bacchus by the titans, the goddess Athena sprinkled his blood on the areas of future wine regions, and one of them fell on Zielona Góra, which initiated the wine tradition in this area. Vine bushes appeared in Zielona Góra together with Flemish settlers who came to this area in 1150. The first documented mentions of the winemaking in Zielona Góra come from 1314. The city's location on sunny hills as well as the favorable climate contributed to the development of winemaking, enabling the emergence of the northernmost vineyards in Europe. Centuries-old wine-growing traditions have given birth to a variety of customs, the most spectacular of which has always been the annual celebration of the Vintage. Initially, there were no provisions governing the date of the beginning and ending of the harvest. From the mid-nineteenth century, the Wine Festival was announced by the City Council, entering it into the municipal calendar. On the occasion of the vintage, Przewozy Regionalne and Branded Tourist Product TurKol.pl launched a special tourist train Winniczek, which transports tourists from Poznań and Leszno.
