A sad place, a memorial at last. It is a pity that it took the Germans 74 years. Behind the monument, about 20 meters, there are marked places where the remains of the murdered are.
In memory of over 1,500 Jewish children, women and men from Józefów
murdered in this area on July 13, 1942 by German
policemen from the 101st Reserve Police Battalion from Hamburg.
We humbly bow to the victims. Hamburg police 2016.
Such an inscription was engraved in three languages on boards found in unveiled in 2016
monument founded by the commune of Józefów and police from Hamburg.
A monument made of Józefowski sandstone stands in the forest next to road No. 835, near the lagoon.
