The previous site of the Oak of Independence - "John Paul II's Corner" was intended as a monument to the Holy Father. Now, in a more irrigated place, near the fountain, we have the opportunity to observe its growth. Let me remind you that John Paul II on April 28, 2004, during a private audience granted to foresters, blessed the acorns collected from the oldest Polish oak - Chrobry. Then the acorns were planted in a nursery in Nędza, which fortunately grew as seedlings in the amount of 500. After the Pope's death, these oaks became a special memento of the great Pole and the head of the Catholic Church. On the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, Polish foresters took seedlings with them to Pope Francis and during the audience on May 23, 2018. the Pope blessed 100 "Oaks of Independence", the blowing of which commemorated the anniversary throughout the country. Let us also pray that our "Independence Oak" grows healthy and vigorously.
