The most amazing cemetery I have seen so far !! Only the Romanian "happy cemetery" made a greater impression on me ... Pustki is a unique place ... its location and shape make a great impression. The chapel situated on its highest point is beautiful and unique! The cemetery is so different in every season of the year and always just as magical ... RECOMMENDED !!!

I come back to the places I visited when I was young. Back then it was a backpacking trip, and the road from Gorlice was getting longer with every kilometer. Today, the entire facility makes an amazing impression. You can see it clearly from the main road, and the signs and indicators will not get lost on the way to the top of the hill from where I started my tour. Amazing in form, the project is equally attractive at every point when looking from below at hundreds of graves located on the steep slope, or from above, where crosses are sharply drawn against the sky and hills on the opposite side of the valley. Underfoot, heavy clay, today spilled with fine crushed stone, gives the impression of the weight of the struggles of the fallen. Monuments should be erected to them, not those for whom they perished. It is for them, in memory and warning, that this magnificent monument towering over the area was built. A combination of stone and wood, beautiful in form and carpentry ... Looking down from the terrace, I remembered the text carved on the slab of the Krempna cemetery ... The tragic thing is that in each of the quarters there are young men with purely Polish surnames.

Thanks to the fact that the soldiers of each side were buried with respect and a bow of the head ... this is the value of European heritage.

One of the most beautiful first war cemeteries. It was built on the slope of a mountain called Pustki, according to the then tradition of establishing cemeteries in the place of fights during the war. 912 soldiers of the Central Committee, 65 of the Prussian army and 227 of the tsarist army died here. They were buried in 46 collective and 829 single graves. There are as many as 512 Poles among the fallen. Undoubtedly, the gontyna, i.e. the chapel at the top, makes a great impression. It was rebuilt a few years ago according to the original plans because it burnt down in 1985.

Hilltop graveyard, crosses and nothing more. Without a mountain of plastic. An unusual place and an extraordinary history of this place.
