The building is located in the eastern part of the city, about 400 meters from the Saltworks Castle. The palace now houses the Malopolska Institute of National Remembrance. Visiting the interior is not possible, the building can be viewed from the outside.

Konopków Palace is located in the north-eastern part of the city, a short distance from the Saltworks Castle and the Salt Mine. As with most buildings in Wieliczka, its history is associated with the city's greatest treasure - salt. In the 1880s, the palace was built by two brothers, Jan and Piotr Konopka, who were shareholders of Kompania Solna Komercjonalna. After the death of Jan Konopka in 1804, the building was sold to the Higher Salary Office, which arranged apartments for senior salary officers (hence the palace is often called the Salinarny palace). During one of the renovations, perhaps in the 1830s, the classical facade was given to the elevations of the palace. In the post-war period, the palace was in such a bad condition that even the possibility of its demolition was even considered. However, in 1985, the authorities of Wieliczka bought the palace and decided to carry out a general renovation. In a few years (1988-1992) many construction works were carried out, however, there was no financial resources and a new user was started to search for a proper palace. The result of this search was the handover of the object in 2001 to the State Treasury, intended for the headquarters of the Krakow Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance. The new user has completed the renovation and adapted the building to his needs, including placing a warehouse with an area of approx. 1000 m2 under the terrace. The palace built by Konopki was part of the assumption, which included farm buildings, gardens on the eastern side and a park with a pond on the north. The palace itself was erected on a high terrace, surrounded by retaining walls, to which a wide staircase leads from the west side. It is a multi-storey building covered with a broken Polish roof with symmetrically composed facades. The middle part of the façade and the rear façade was accentuated by an extended projection ending with a triangular gable. The corners of the building are highlighted with rustication, while the windows of the western and southern walls are decorated with preserved decorations: lion heads and plant twine and rolled acanthus leaves, serving as supports for window cornices.
