Wąsosz is the seat of the commune authorities, a city located at the confluence of the Orli and Barycze rivers. The rivers were a natural defense on three sides, while from the open eastern side the defense was a castle surrounded by a moat. The city received city rights in 1290 from prince Henry III of Głogów and developed as a market settlement. During the Silesian Wars, in 1759 the wooden buildings of the city were burned. The central part of the city is old historic architectural buildings. The main tourist attraction is Rynek (Plac Wolności) surrounded by houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
