Only the walls of the building stood here after the war. The city has managed to rebuild and develop it. Until recently, it housed the city library, which is now several dozen meters away.

Until 1939, it was a synagogue of the Jewish kehilla. It is the oldest church building in Piotrków Trybunalski after the Catholic churches (the current seat of the Municipal Public Library). The history of the synagogue in a sense coincided with the history of the castle, because in its immediate location, on the so-called Jurydyce Starościńska, in the 16th century, the Jewish Community of Piotrków started its history. The first information about the Jewish population in our city includes the privilege of Zygmunt August from 1569, which was issued in Lublin. The Great Synagogue, preserved until today, was built in 1791-1793. It was founded by Mojżesz Kocin, rich Piotrkowczyk - on the site of the previous wooden one. The last priest in this synagogue was Rabbi Moshe Chaim Lavie-Lau, who was in office for 6 years (he died with the faithful in Treblinka in 1942).

Before the construction of the media library there was the Main Library of the city of piotrków, the synagogue itself is nicely preserved and it is certainly an interesting object

A beautifully rebuilt synagogue, testifying about the city's past and cultural heritage.
