The representative façade contains details indicating the presence of the hotel, which is not true. Indeed, it was once a place where travelers and vicarians were offered here, definitely abandoned including the town in Poland. The old German inscription was replaced with Polish, which was officially approved by the conservator of monuments and ... so much remains. Meanwhile, visitors instead of decent accommodation, must taste, regretfully looking at the noble walls of the beautifully restored facility. Today, the historic facade of the building is part of the charming market square in Bytom Odrzańskie, where life goes on in a slow rhythm. The former hotel has a restaurant that is far from the standards of before 1945. Flashy amateurs of low-interest or cheap drinks dominate here, and instead of a brass ham with a full-bodied host, they serve painted girls. Could use a real hotel, even for a small number of guests, because the town is visited by many tourists from home and abroad. Not finding decent accommodation, they walk for a few hours with cameras on the sleepy streets of the historic urban layout, maybe even eat ice cream or drink coffee and ... go on. There is something else! In front of the Golden Lion (2019) is a hideous kennel with snacks, beer, cola and other crap. It stands as if all this 'good' was not inside a restaurant or within a beer garden! Gargamel stands, damaging space and spoiling photographic plans! I am not a specialist in arranging such places, but I have sensitivity and I object to unsightly things! As well as regret at the lack of sufficiently abundant greenery (trees) totally replaced by paving!

During our stay in this atmospheric town, we went for dinner to a restaurant belonging to the hotel. We ordered a chicken salad, and the waitress offered elongated, soft and warm rolls of own baking. A delicious salad. A portion you can eat. Decent prices, very nice and helpful staff. I recommend highly!!!

Good food, friendly service, affordable prices, but ... the lack of working air conditioning in hot weather is a big minus.
