Now it's the bike's turn The Staroste of Nowosolski reminded the councilors of the Lubuskie Voivodeship Sejmik about the project assuming the construction of almost 50 km of bicycle paths along the disused railway line. The Budget and Finance Committee of the Regional Council of Lubuskie Voivodeship this time held its debates in the conference room of the CKZiU in Nowa Sól. Waldemar Wrześniak, Starost of Nowosolski, also participated in the meeting. He told the councilors about the priorities of his term of office, about the projects that are underway and provided information about the Nowosolski County. The staroste also referred to the project of bicycle paths from Stypułowo to Sławocin along the closed railway line No. 371 Wolsztyn-Żagań, closed since 1997 and unused so far, implemented by the County. The project involves the construction of a 48.2 km long bicycle path with rest areas. At the moment, the application that has been submitted is undergoing the formal evaluation stage, which will be announced in the first quarter of next year. The entire project is PLN 20 million, of which PLN 17 million is co-financed. The investment was joined by five local governments from the poviat: the city of Nowa Sól, the rural commune of Nowa Sól and the communes of: Kożuchów, Otyń, Kolsko. The authorities actively participate in the preparations for the project implementation. Actions in this matter were supported by: Starosts of the Żagań and Wolsztyn Poviats and the mayors of Wolsztyn and Żagań. The poviat received support from PKP SA, the real estate management branch in Poznań. The difficulty to overcome, however, is the lack of access to land on which the railway line runs inoperative, and the lending of which is sought by the Poviat. Talks on this matter are held at the level of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction and are attended by both the Staroste and municipal authorities. - We are all aware that this may be the last and perhaps the only chance for the development of land and real estate which have been severely devastated for many years as a closed railway line - explains W. Wrześniak.
