Kobylin is a small city in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, with about 3,500 inhabitants. It was a private noble town founded in 1303. In the beginning, the city was called Venice, because of the wetlands that surrounded the city. From 1456, there was a Bernardine monastery school in Kobylin, whose graduates usually went to Krakow. At the southern end of the town there is a rectangular, small market square with the town hall in the middle (1849). Around the market, the historic urban layout has been preserved, entered in the register of monuments in 1990.
