The subject of protection is the peat and forest area located in the glacial trough. There are five lakes here, only periodically filled with water. They have folk names: Sarni Dół (Suchy Dół), Czarny Dół, Okrąglak, Gapiak and Żabiak. Plant communities occurring in the reserve are ols, transitional peat bog, swamp and moss. Growing here include Vaginal nematode, rootless wolf (periodically), filamentous sedge and swallow. In the 1950s, round-leaved sundew was present (good-looking specimens). Species of fauna are represented, among others Common frog, Great crested newt and common newt. There is a special abundance of frogs, newts and toads in Żabiak. Grass snake also lives here. In insects there is a relatively rare sphagnose eyelash curler. Inanimate nature is represented by numerous erratic boulders, only partly on the surface. Their circumference reaches up to five meters. There is no tourist trail directly at Sarnich Doły.
