Janowskie Forests is a place where you can still view the wildlife from close range. Great for summer or cold trekking.

Great place.

Wonderful ... quiet calm, it's autumn but you can hear a bird occasionally ...

The Janów Forests, being the central and central part of the Solska Forest, are one of the largest forest complexes in Poland with outstanding natural and landscape properties. To protect and maintain these values, in 1984 the Landscape Park "Lasy Janowskie" was established. The park is an important element of the protected landscape zone encompassing the Puszcza Solska and Sandomierska Forest and the valleys of San and Vistula. Landscape Park "Lasy Janowskie" is an area of approximately 40,000 hectares. The size of these inaccessible forests with the preserved old age tree stand determines their outstanding natural value. There is mainly a pine tree with island fragments of fir forests. Among the various forest habitats, from dry forests to swampy forests, fragments of the forest of the puszczański character have survived. The forest landscape is varied with river valleys, sand dunes forming elevations, complexes of ponds, lakes, swamps and mid-forest bogs. There are over 130 rare plants in Poland, of which 30 are protected by species. The complex of water vegetation and rush vegetation is of significant value. The Janowskie forests abound in natural, little-transformed habitats, which makes the fauna of these forests extremely rich. Among the 130 species of birds, rare species are represented, among others osprey, greater spotted eagle, lesser spotted eagle, sea eagle, black stork, crane. Noteworthy is the occurrence of the capercaillie in the Janów Forests - a species endangered with extinction, covered by zonal protection. Great conditions are found in the forest shelters of wolves, elks, deer, wild boars and many others. Six nature reserves have been established within the Park's boundaries, where the most valuable and rare plant communities, tree stands, bird breeding sites and wildlife sites are protected in a special way. In the vicinity of one of the wooded villages of Szklarnia, a mainstay of the Biłgoraj horse was established. Horses, descendants of tarpans, model their ancestors throughout the year, stay in the open area, and are fed only during the winter. A few horses separated from the herd were designated for recreational and utility purposes. Their mild temperament, small height and friendly attitude to people makes them used in hippotherapy.
