The cemetery, situated in a quiet place, commemorates the events from over a century ago. Many young people there rested far from home, most anonymously. This piece of land hides a lot of human suffering and tragedy.
A tragic place, but for us today one of the thanatotourist destinations
War cemetery No. 167 is located near the parish cemetery in Ryglice (49.876834; 21136566) with a spacious car park, which is easily accessible.
Over 300 soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian army and the Russian army were buried there. The cemetery is in good condition.
The cemetery is currently suitable for renovation. Many tombstones are destroyed. Nevertheless, it is one of the most interesting necropolis in the area. It has a unique entrance gate with red tiles. At its center point there is a concrete cross on a pedestal with an inscription, which from German is: "No wreath decorates a head more worthy than love for one's own country".
A gate covered with tiles leads to it. On the central monument there is a plaque with the inscription (trans.): "No wreath adorns the face with dignity than the love of the homeland." At the cemetery, 312 soldiers were buried in 166 individual graves and 30 mass graves: 187 Austro-Hungarian soldiers, 125 Russian soldiers.
