The ruins of the Powder Tower are part of the 14th-century defensive walls. The tower is located in the vicinity of the town hall. Only some of these buildings were used to store ammunition. There were also two levels of shooting ranges and a building that served as the municipal bathhouse.

The defensive walls of Wieluń were 1200-1300 meters in shape of an irregular oval. The ruins of the Powder Tower are a fragment of the medieval city walls.
