It makes an impression

At the chapel of the grave, 9 French Napoleonic soldiers, who during the retreat of the Great Army from Moscow in February 1813, fell in battle, or were murdered after being taken prisoner by the Cossacks. Archaeologists who dug the hill and exhumed the remains of nine men, ordered by the Institute of National Remembrance, said they were buried in separate graves. There were traces of saber cuts on several skulls, which confirmed that it was the burial place of tragically dead soldiers. It is still unknown, however, whether they fell in battle or surrendered to captivity and were murdered by Cossacks who chased and cut the remnants of the Napoleonic army to the west.
