After the city of Lublin forbade burial in the old Jewish cemetery in 1792, in 1928 the Jewish community bought a new plot outside the city and laid down a new Jewish cemetery. After the occupation of Lublin by German troops in the autumn of 1939, the graves in the new Jewish cemetery were destroyed. After the war, a tent was built over the grave of Rabbi Zadok Akoen Rabinovich (known as Rabbi Zadok Akoen from Lublin 1823-1900).
