War Cemetery No. 202, was once condemned by the communist authorities. Occupies an attractive area within Tarnów. Luckily, if this commune did something before it, it fell apart. As a result, the object has been described and inventoried and saved thanks to the activities ... Scouts! Currently, it is almost empty due to post-war activities. But we can find there a central monument (reconstruction) of two earth graves marked and not inscribed on the sidelines of the inscription plate.

The cemetery was founded in the 19th century as a garrison cemetery in the Austrian army. 680 soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian army, 9 German and 796 Russian were buried here. They were victims of fights in 1914 and early 1915 and died in Tarnów hospitals and hospitals. In the interwar period, the cemetery fell into disrepair. The cemetery was destroyed in 1964 by the City Greenery. The remains of equipment were then taken away, the area was plowed without exhumation of the fallen. In 2011, a partial reconstruction of the object was made. The gate and the fence from the west side and the central monument were reconstructed. The family of a fallen soldier (Franciszek) from Slovakia from Modra founded a cross with a small plate.

Many soldiers of different nationalities died in this land during the First World War. A visit to the cemetery makes us realize that the place where we live has been spilled with blood more than once, not twice. We are ignorant about love for our neighbor.

One could pay more attention to this place

Despite renovation and cleaning, however a little run down. The graves were almost invisible from the grass. However, for people who like to visit such places there is something magical about it. Peace and quiet.
