Private area with no access for visitors. Lush vegetation obscures everything ...

The area is not available for sightseeing.

A beautiful palace surrounded by a charming, well-kept garden in the residential district of Kowary.

This is not a new manor palace! Pictures are quite another object

The "Nowy Dwór" Palace in the north-eastern part of Kowary, standing just by the city beltway, belonged to counts von Reuss until 1945. The last representatives of the family, Henryk XXX von Reuss and his wife Feodora rest in a tomb erected on a hill next to the road to the sanatoriums of Wojków. Several years ago, the remains of Feodora, who committed suicide in August 1945 in Wojków, were interested in British scientists tracking the "purple secret". Their goal was to solve the mystery of the disease inherited by many members of the Hanoverian dynasty that prevailed in Great Britain until 1901. Feodora, born in 1879, was the daughter of Prince Sachsen-Meiningen and great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, the last representative of the Hanover line. Studies of samples taken from the ducal tomb in Kowary showed that Feodora suffered from incurable porphyria, a disease that troubled many of her ancestors, including those ruling in Great Britain. Metabolic disorders caused her typical porphyria symptoms, abdominal pain, nausea and fever. The results of research on the DNA samples of Princess Feodora clarified the thesis that porphyria was the cause of the troubles of the British rulers of the Hanoverian line. After the British team's visit to Kowary, the von Reuss family tomb was tidied up. The princely couple was buried there again.
