If you are right next to this gate, or if you have a way around, it's good to stop and take some interesting pictures, but if you are somewhere far and you're hesitate, if it woth visiting - It's just a gate behind a fence with "military area" sign. But for interesting pictures from the area it's good to visit it.

One star, unfortunately, for the availability of sightseeing, because not everything could be seen. Visiting only in organized groups after prior arrangement with the commander of the military unit. The history of the fortress is something else. The best-preserved building is the Lublin Gate of the Citadel from the 19th century. The remaining fortresses were built after the fall of the November Uprising. Within the fortress there are min. national memorials.

The Dęblin Fortress was built as a result of the implementation of defense plans developed by Russia in the early 1930s. This reign of Nicholas 1 Roman was accomplished after the suppression of the November Uprising and the incorporation of the Kingdom of Poland into the Russian Empire. The construction of the fortress was started on the plans of the outstanding fortress of General ENGINEER IWAN DEHN, the first fortification work with the outline of a bastion was erected according to the plans of the French fortress of Marshal Sebastian Vauban on the grounds of the village of Modrzyce it was a five-sided fort citadel the interior of the citadel was surrounded by a two-story continuous barracks and warehouse building for protection. the crossing of the Vistula, the Gorczakowa fort was built. In 1879, based on the plans of General Edward Totleben, the expansion of the fortress began, by 1882 six forts were built, they were located on both banks of the Vistula and the left bank of the Wieprz River within a radius of 2.5 km to 3.6 km from the citadel, these were forts "Młynkowski" now "Nadwiślanka" "Mierzwiączka "Dęblin" Borowa "and" Borek ". 1895-1908 another modernization was carried out as a result of the expansion, a ring fortress was created. The rings supported each other by the fire of the cannons, forming the main line of defense of the citadel, which was its core

It's a pity to go there. The fortress is closed because it is a military facility. I am just wondering why so many positive opinions, when you can watch one gate and in addition from behind the net? I wasn't the only one who left in frustration. It is also a pity a bit of those over 100 km ...

It is worth coming here and learning about the history of the fortress and the monument. A pleasant place for a moment of reflection. I recommend it not only for history enthusiasts
