Destilaria Sharish Gin

What an amazing experience we've had visiting this distillery! There were no English speaking staff around, however a lovely woman from the reception did her best giving us a tour in a funny mix of English and Portuguese! We had so much fun trying to guess what would be the word in English, guessed names of botanicals and fruits and many more! She showed us around, then we have been invited to a room where the gin is bottled up, decorated and packed into boxes. It was my great pleasure to try bottling the gin and later on decorating the bottles with stickers etc. One of that bottles of limited edition Orange blossom Sharish gin I have made we are bringing home with us as a trophy. Later we ended up in their in house bar, where we have tried three different gins they had available at the moment - fantastic! I am telling you as a massive gin fan: it's not just another gin to try and forget! Sharish gins each has their own unique style, character, vibe. The distillery itself is cool. The staff seems to be very happy to work there. Their shop is great. Prices are cheap in comparison to other gins that are made fully automatic by machines. Here its three positive employees who are able to make up to 1.500 (!!!!!) bottles a day using three pairs of hands. Unbelievable, inspirational, respectable. A must visit for all gin lovers when in Portugal. We knew that Portugal is a wine country, now we have discovered it as a country that has great gins to offer!

This is such a delicate gin with all pure and organic products. We've got a very nice and fun tour and a good tasting with an extensive explanation about gin and the ingredients. Must go when you like gin and in you're in the area.

6 to 8 euros per glass to taste even when you buy a bottle, 500ml Dark sky +2 glasses to taste 46 euros. Bottles are beautiful , gin is expensive, lovely informative tour.
