Forte de São João da Barra

Amazing property with very relaxing feel to it. Cecelia is very sweet and cares about her guests. There is a tight dirt road to get to the fort/hotel so if you have a medium or large car good luck! Being in a fort you are slightly detached from civilization but that is the charm. Restaurants are 15-20 minute walk away.

The forte is really beautiful, visited here for a possible wedding venue but the logistics getting here and about are not ideal. No where to park and quite difficult to find.

I have not visited the bed and breakfast here, but I have, in the past, enjoyed the beautiful coastal walks and countryside nearby. Sadly, that is no longer possible, as a great deal of money has been spent on post and wire fencing and numerous signs announcing 'private property' and 'no pedestrians', not just close to the old fort walls, but for some considerable distance around them.

Bad experience....stressed people..

We went and stayed here for a wedding it was amazing and the staff were wonderful.
