Lovely home; lovely operators. We're two senior couples from the US and stayed at this property in late September. It was impossible to find using GPS and only after we gave our location to the owner and she drove to escort us back to the home did we get there. At one time the home was listed on Google Maps as Ana Saraiva guest house, but I'm not seeing it posted that way now. In any event the home is absolutely lovely with the largest, cleanest indoor pool I have seen in a private home. The public areas of the home again are wonderful and the place is spotless. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom (large jacuzzi tub only) upstairs, a bathroom downstairs with shower and a very large bathroom and shower in the poor area (all enclosed). A very reasonable base for the Douro Valley. Owners are lovely. Due to our late arrival and difficulty finding the place Francisco went out to the market and bought a roasted chicken with all the fixings for our dinner and would not accept compensation for this feast. Could definitely see a several night stay here, though we only stayed one night.

Totally off the beaten track and almost off the grid ... We stayed here in 2011 and it's situated in a dusty and secluded hamlet with no noise or anything to do except hang out by the bbq or the pool, or go on little driving expeditions to nearby villages, local quirky historic sites such as Cathedrals or wineries. Has indoor pool, several living spaces including indoor (formal) and rustic charming outdoor with Pizzas oven (bonus!) opening into private yard space. For those wanting to cook old style over wood fire in an old style stove, it's great, we loved loved this (there is also modern fully equipped kitchen inside) for some reason I noted there were severalaces and about 7 (seven) TVs. If anything goes wrong just walk out into the street as all the neighbours are family. We never figured out which one was the owner but some hand signals and a mix of Latin languages and we were fine. Tips for nearby itinerary: visit Lamego and its cathedral. Better is Vila Real, especially Mateus Palace ( Casa de Mateus), for local wine the biggest and most modern seemed to be Murganheira. They do good vintage sparkling (espumante). For Port you probably shouldn't ignore Quinto do Noval. They even have a pre phylloxera wine.

Excelente espaço para partilhar com amigos (espaço com três quartos). Espectacular a piscina coberta, um porto de abrigo para um dia cinzento!
