I was Hungry in Coimbra 6.45pm Murphys staff said "open 7.30pm'' I was bang on time and the service was Top Notch "Vera" the host was above and beyond her pay rate she was "Brilliant" as was the homemade Apple pie. Definitely worth a visit when in town.
At Home (08/11/2020)
We sat in the garden for a meal and drinks. The service was slow and, once ordered, the meals took ages to arrive. I've been in Portugal 10 years now and enjoyed my fair share of Francesinhas and can categorically state this was the second worst to date. The Francesinha was barely warm and the fries that were served separately were cold. The waiter eventually replaced them with a second plate of cold fries, so I cancelled the order. Despite that, as I was finishing my meal, he brought over a third plate of fries and expected me to pay for them. The excuse given was that it was too far from the kitchen to the garden, which begs the question, why try to serve hot food there then? Not a good experience and not one that we will be repeating.

I really enjoyed Murphy's. I will definitely be back. The burger is excellent. I would consider this one of the better "themed" bars in Coimbra. The space is alot bigger than it looks from he outside. The decor is spot on and well taken care of. I enjoyed the burger and a very good craft beer. Highly recommend. One of my favorite places in Coimbra. I would love to see some live music here from time to time. I think it would really enhance the environment.

A nice pub in a nice area but does not seem popular with locals. The place next door was packed but they have many outdoor tables. Lots of different beers .. excellent as a beer pub. Nice decor inside and a few outdoor tables, not nearly enough for groups. My wife had an omelette for dinner..very good. I tried the Franchesina for the first time ever. Did not love it! It has a very chewy/tough sausage in it that I would never get again. The service was efficient and friendly. No Irish/British food at all. No real complaint re the food but I think it's better for beer and snacks than dinner.
