Templo Romano Évora

Amazing place, loaded with history! I was blown away by how well conserved the temple still is!

This Temple is located in the historical center of Évora and its construction dates back to the first century A.D. During the course of time, many things happen to the temple (destruction of the building by Germanic people invasion in 5th century or incorporation of the ruins into the walls of a tower in middle ages) but the main pillars which we can see today remained. It is believed that this temple was similar to the Maison Carrée in France. The ruins of the temple is located near the Cathedral and the Museum of Évora. there is a lovely park also in front of it with a nice view of the city.

Simply a place to visit and lurk! It’s a beautiful temple full of history. If you can go by day and night

Well preserve but lacks of history panel, a place to visit.

The temple is on a hilltop, so the view from there is beautiful. The temple itself is less impressive than I thought it would be.
