Nice trek, one of the 5-6 that has to be done when visiting Madeira. Easy but bring enough water and the right shoes/clothes. First part of the descent is on tarmac road, it is quite steep (so keep this in mind when you come back to the parking, if you do not use the bus it can be a hard climb at the end of a day). Then there are multiple choices, and quite a lot of things to see.

Of course this place is beautiful, but also crowded. You should go there early in the morning to avoid alle the guided tours, otherwise it's a real bumper when people try the crawl through the mad numbers of visitors.
