Funchal Cottages - Pool & Painters Cottage

Everything you could want. Peaceful & relaxing, lovely pool and excellent hosts.

We stayed at the Pool Cottage a couple of weeks ago and I can thoroughly recommend it. The cottage was perfect for two and the pool area and pool itself was wonderful. . Bright and airy with all mod cons. The welcome pack was exactly that- very welcome, everything we needed to get us started before we could make it to the supermarket. There was a folder with very useful information and Cristina was so helpful and arranged pick up at airport and a restaurant reservation for us. The views out over the harbour and city are lovely especially at night and it is a pleasant walk downhill into the old town area and a quick bus ride or taxi back up if you’re like me, not so able for steep streets. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Madeira.

Amazing sea views in a very pretty part of old Funchal with lots of flowering trees, historic buildings and a short walk to the sea. Wish we could have stayed longer as it was so relaxing and charming. The apartment was elegant and had everything we needed for our stay (we walked down the road most nights to the old town restaurants, Tropicana has great seafood). Large terrace with sunbathing chairs, hammock and eating area. The swimming pool gets sun all day and was great after a long walk. thanks for a memorable stay, hope to return.

LOVED Painters Cottage! Swimming pool in the old town is a real joy as the weather was so good and we made the most of it. Fantastic views from the balcony to Funchal harbour, Cristina left us a really thoughtful welcome pack and made us feel very much at home. The weber barbecue was in use most nights as we grilled fish from the market down the road (excellent little grocer up the road with lots of local herbs and vegetables from the gardens nearby). Elegant and even better then the photos show. Hope to stay again soon.

Perfect self catering break in a great unique place full of charm. Sunny pool & central location. Everything we could have wished for on a first visit to my parents hometown.
