Great location, and the food was amazing!!
The main mission of the Conimbriga Monographic Museum is to protect and promote the Ruins and the archaeological research. The collection is exclusively composed of the archaeological materials collected in the City and the current permanent exhibition presents the objects of daily use, evokes the monumental Forum, the wealth of the domus, the strength of its commerce, the religion and beliefs of the Romanized population and the suevo-visigothic presence. Noteworthy are the mosaics preserved in situ and the 'Casa dos Repuxos', which has a mosaic paved area, important traces of mural painting and a central garden peristyle with a lake and water games.
The ruins of the Roman city of Conimbriga have been known since the 16th century. In 1873, the Coimbra Institute created a Department and a Museum of Archeology and started the study of Conimbriga remains. In 1899, it carried out the first major research, designed the oppidum plant and carried out the first studies of the mosaics. After 1929, excavations began in Conimbriga, with the holding of the XI International Congress of Anthropology and Prehistory and in 1930 the State acquired the first lands. In the forties and fifties of the 20th century, works of reconstruction and consolidation of the ruins were carried out and the Monographic Museum of Conimbriga was created in 1962.

Nice places
Great food and service. Was there for a family baptism celebration. Great atmosphere. Helpful and prompt staff. Beautiful area right beside the ancient ruins.
This is a hidden gem of a place. I think they said that it's not even remotely excavated and explored yet. It was a huge Roman town in its time. The restaurant is clean and well priced and offers shade from the summer sun. Well worth a visit, I am sure that you will find it very interesting.
