Estalagem Eira do Serrado

Hotel with an amazing location overlooking Curral das Freiras. Stayed during covid times as almost the only guests. Very friendly and kind receptionist gave a free superior room upgrade and opened the pool just for us. The superior room is spacious and has great views towards the valley. Loved the bedding and memory foam pillows. The hotel has an 80-90ish look and feel, but also many upgrades like solar panels on the roof and modern huge TV's in the rooms. Enjoyed the restaurant as well, delicious food at decent prices, vegetarian options available. They prepared a very personal breakfast with eggs, fresh pastry and fruits. Compared to the seaside, the temperatures are lower, both outside and inside the hotel/restaurant. Loved the stay so much to extend it for an extra day!

Great location, beautiful views, the rooms clean and well equipped with coffee making facilities and fridge. Views out of balcony spectacular. Calm peaceful place. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was always good. If you want noise and lots going on, this is not a place for you. Bus service to Funchal or to nearest village though we hired a car for sight seeing.

Beautiful views. Went in February, so felt inside of the hotel was too cold. The paella for 2 was enormous, could easily be for 4. But, my little one fell ill after eating lunch there. Food tasted good.
