PR18 Levada Do Rei

Great hike along the canal. Effectively no elevation gain. Very steep edges. Wouldn't bring a dog. Will get wet!

Nice walk, not very strenuous, not too far. Pleasant country with a few highlights along the way. Waterproof shoes is best with some decent grip. Some of it is quite tight with some decent drops to the side. Nice cafe at the start / end.

This was a beautiful place to visit. Unfortunately the heavens opened as soon as we set off, and our guide turned us around at the half way point for safety concerns, which were fully explained and understandable. So we didn't get to see the end, but will definitely try again, with the same company, Madeira Free Spirit Walks. I would certainly recommend this company too - very friendly, very knowledgeable, very entertaining and experts in their field.

Very nice hike that doesn't require great fitness. The forest is beautiful along the way, and the path can be quite adventurous leading on the very edge of the cliffs or through a waterfall (an umbrella can be useful). By the way there is only one tunnel on this route, which is very short so a flashlight is unnecessary.

This is a very easy hike , following the levada (aqueduct) all the way. It is kid friendly with a low gradient. There is only a little scent at the start
