Casa Alfazema do Monte

NO HEATING in February and told to leave at 10pm at night!!! Don't misunderstand me, the house, the location, the decoration, the kitchen facilities, cleanliness etc etc were all excellent. But upon arrival we found there was no heating (as advertised on the website we booked with). Given it was the middle of February and the house has clearly been empty, it was extremely cold and continued to be even moreso into the night. I contacted the owner who advised me that the chimney and 4 small pieces of wood left provided the heating. I tried conveying several times that a) a chimney doesn't count as heating, heating implies radiators and/or space heaters, and b) in any case, there wasn't nearly enough firewood for 2 days. The main bedroom is at the other end of the house with no heat reaching it, and the fireplace is very small to heat the large living/dining room, let alone the rest of the house in winter. I imagine in summer it's perfect – fresh and cool, but given that heating was advertised I was incredibly disappointed and left feeling extremely uncomfortably when the owner refused to provide what was advertised. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. A neighbour finally came to deliver firewood (still with no word from the owner admitting fault) and said we were far from the first guests to complain about the cold and lack of heating. Eventually, my reservation was cancelled the owner tells me to leave at 10pm at night. Having the cancellation refunded doesn't make up for the 6 hours of awkward messaging and unpleasantness of packing up in a foreign country with 2 dogs, trying to make alternative arrangements at night. Extremely discourteous and unprofessional, and simply not right to misadvertise and respond so poorly.

100% recommendable. The house is beautiful, spacious, comfortable, the town is very quiet and the landscape is spectacular. The owner very friendly and available. To improve even more, I would check the security of the windows. Otherwise phenomenal.

Lugar maravilhoso, perfeito para quem deseja tranquilidade, simples e bem equipado, pude desfrutar dias incríveis, fui muito bem recebida, o anfitrião sempre mostrou disponibilidade em me atender e tirar minhas dúvidas, além de indicações do que fazer próximo a região, e sugestões de restaurantes, obrigada pela estadia, super indico para todos 😍

Um descanso merecido numa casa de bonecas. Perto do centro de Mértola. Fomos muitooooooo bem recebidos.
