Post Office Praia da Rocha

I must have really hit the jackpot on both my early December visits to the Praia da Rocha post office. Having read some of the reviews for this place and based on my own experience at the post office in neighbouring Lagos, I was really fearing the worst. However, I was very pleasantly surprised! First visit: a few customers in front of me; a few customers behind me. One young woman - straight, light brown hair and wearing glasses - on duty; friendly, courteous and efficient! Second visit: same customer setup as before. Two ‘older women’ on duty and both very efficient at their jobs. For me, it worked out extremely well. I had visions of having to do what I ended up doing last year: saving everything I wanted to mail until I got back to civilised postal clerks in Lisbon.

I had a hard time finding this post office and I had to ask 2 different people where it was. That's because it has no sign or anything about being a post office. The main sign says "Boutique do Tabaco". The sign also says it is a "Tabacaria" & "Garrafeira". But yes, this is a post office, which is also a convenience store and sells the other things it mentions on the sign :) Hopefully this review helps someone else find this post office more easily!

Absolutely awful! Incredibly rude woman. Tried on multiple locations to post pay a toll but she kept saying the system was down. A guy in the queue told me on the way out that she tells everyone that as she can't use the system properly. He agreed she was very rude but locals had nowhere else to use CTT services. Totally useless!

Incredibly poorly trained post office staff. I wanted to send a letter by express then say it takes 4-5 days until it arrives. My question: is there EMS or DHL as a shipping option. Answer: No, there is no CTT. After seeing on Google that DHL is temporarily closed, I check again. They press me a piece of paper that says CLS with a courier service and they said that the work would also work there on the weekend. I go there even though it is 5 km away there it says shipping is 5 days the post is faster. Now I go to the CTT main post office and lo and behold the nice lady picks up the letter and kindly informs me that it will not arrive in Switzerland for 40 hours. Dear CTT, also train your outsourcing branch staff ...
