Borda do Cais

I have had one of the most memorable dinner in my life in this place. Food was so good, service was excellent and the location is so beautiful. Thank you, hopefully we can travel there soon again 🙏

Such a nice atmosphere, great and professional service. We ate one of the best fishes and drunk very good wine. Also nice view on the river! I recommend to try a glass of Porto wine at the end together with a desert.

Traditional Portuguese seafood restaurant, lovely views across the river estuary to Portimao. Friendly attentive service. Great choice of fresh fish but also serve pasta and meat dishes.

Sorry, just the 1 *. We live in Alvor in the winter, have done for years. We love Ferragudo for lunch a couple of times a month. We eat out either lunch or dinner every day in autumn/winter and we must eat much more fish than the average Brit - especially wild sea bass. Borda do Cais is our first and last visit however. They cut the fish in half before cooking, despite me asking for a whole fish. That lead to my sea bass being littered with small bits of random half bones. Then the bill came - we paid, for lunch, more than we have paid in years for dinner anywhere on Algarve. We are not tight - this place is expensive. With a capital E and a full blown How Much?

We had a family lunch yesterday. Grilled bream and steaks all were delicious. Excellent service, one waiter in particular was charming and very funny. Would highly recommend.
