Cattedrale di Silves

Small but well preserve. Must be carefull with the clouthes to enter (very catholic)

The cathedral is currently undergoing renovations which its dearly in need of especially on the outside. The cost is €1.50 to enter the cathedral which I didn’t mind paying if the money goes towards the renovations. The cathedral is beautiful inside but also requires renovations. One thing is that it’s close to Silves Castle so you can do both tours at the same time. There are no washroom facilities available to you while at the Cathedral so do your business in advance.

I am rating this cathedral's qualities as an attraction, not as a religious spot. Because it is under repairs, there was a whole section that was roped off. There is little to no help by the staff; just a €1.50 fee. The architecture and historical art is interesting (and probably have some great stories, but there is no one and/or nothing to explain it). The electric candles are just bizarre. Still, if you visit Silves for the castle, it's worth walking over to visit this structure.

This church is not worth the trip! If you come to visit the castle of Silves, the 'cathedral' is a small side-tour. Nothing special. The interior is average, at best, but you need to pay a € 1,50 pp entrance fee. Very uncommon for this average church. So my opinion is: Worth a trip: no! Worth a visit: no, not combined with the entrance fee. Worth a virtual visit: just to satisfy your curiosity, browse throuhg the pictures in Google maps and spend the time saved in the castle.

Beautiful little cathedral closer to the castle of Silves. Nice little town with interesting things and good food.
